UK (RIBA P.2) Diploma Unit Resources

Hey,

I want to apply for a diploma unit starting in the next academic year. One which is concerned with researching how elements like ecology, agriculture or water will and do influence the urban fabric. I have found four unit's this morning; UEL Unit 7, AA Unit 16 & 18, Bartlett Unit 22. I've had to trall through the internet to look for these unit's and it occurred to me that maybe someone on here is aware of a single resource for diploma unit information.

So if anyone knows any diploma unit's in the UK which are relative or a resource which could assist I would very much appreciate it.

Cheers,

Hi, its worth noting that units evolve over time - if your interests are so specific, I suggest you contact the unit staff and confirm with them whether their agendas for the next academic year chime with yours.

On the other hand you might think that the journey across the 2 years of the diploma is a time for experiment and the acquisition of new perspectives - acts which connote novelty and the wish to be exposed to new and maybe unexpected influences.

With regard to your stated areas of interest, ecology is a broad term which needs much more specific reference, there are many ecologies, the defining aspect of the study is one of systematic co-dependance, this does not necessarily connote living organisms, btw.

Urban agriculture is fast becoming pervasive in diploma schools and as such needs to be carefully nuanced to avoid cliché.

Water has always been a key issue for urbanism, whether for drinking, sewerage, industry or transport - nothing new here. In summary, I think its worth considering being more open to diverse agendas, yet at the same time try to ask clearer questions.

Good luck with the Diploma, wherever you end up. j
