My neighbours have recently undertaken work that was refused when they submitted for planning permission. When I spoke to the planning officers about this they said that they would not be taking action to enforce the decision. I'd imagine this is the effect of the local spending cuts. If this is the case, what is the point of planning permission and under what statute can we get enforcement action on the work undertaken and how do we go about doing this?
