Part 2 Course Entry?

I am looking for advice on how to get into a part 2 course. In my final year of my part 1 course I had some personal problems which I struggled through. I ended up with a third class degree. I have since taken some time off to get myself sorted. I know entry requirements are usually around a 2.1 or 2.2. What can I do to help my chances of getting into a part 2 course?

Basically you'll need to work your socks off and put together an amazing portfolio (competitions, installations etc). If you went to a very very good University (Cambridge, UCL etc) it might not be so bad but no matter what school you go to you really have to work hard for a good degree in Architecture. You'll need to write a letter explaining your problems and why they affected your work because everyone has life problems and they can't really be an excuse for failing to do well on a three/four year course and especially for getting a third. You'll need to highlight strong modules/years of study and you'll need to prove that at some point you were a good student.

You will also need to pick your Part 2 course carefully and tailor your application for that course. If you just carpet bomb every school your portfolio will not be specific to anywhere.

Another course of action would be to study a different course for a year or two, something that your interested in and make sure you ace it. Then apply to schools.
