an open ended question if there was one-

University after A-levels is the way to go, it's 7 years of hard work but if it's something your passionate about you'll enjoy it. I studied art, mathematics and physics at A-level to be able to get onto a Uni course.

To learn a piece of software takes years to master which you'll be taught at uni.

Hope this helps to begin with! http://bit.ly/CAD4MAC

You could have a play with Sketch Up. It's a 3d modelling programme downloadable for free from Google.

Plenty of people have their Sketch Up models uploaded to the web - on Google Earth for example - so you can tear someone else's apart to figure it out while learning to make your own.

My first 'project' (on work experience from school) was to design my dream house. A bit of a neo-classical monstrosity... But, I learned how flipping big stairs are!
