Architect collaboration tool

Hi Guys,

I am a software developer working on the initial stages of creating a free mobile/web application for architects to collaborate on their projects. As a part of my initial research I looked at some of features of Revit Collaboration by AutoDesk.

Could those of you or works out there also send me some names of collaborative tools you came across in the past or use currently in your work, so I can have a look at those too.

Thanks A.H

Hey AH,

I am a CAD Software and Hardware Specialist working mainly with Apple and use everything there is at the very top of technology. I do a lot of research and work with Architects teaching them how to use technology to work in collaboration with each other as well as engineers and consultants.

Before you start on this great application you do realise that AutoCAD WS was released late last year for this very purpose, it is available on the web and on portables, also it's free. I know that other companies such as Dassault (who make Solidworks) are testing a beta CAD program which is also free. Is this what your planning or do you have something more expansive in mind?

Thank you matt for your response(The WS looks amazing). I checked your website and it seems you know what you are talking about so I would like to post the product proposal and get your point of view about it.

This WS tools seems really nice but it has two huge problems: 1. it is proprietary 2. it is only for a single platform

"Hasn't got a name yet" solves this problem by bringing the collaborative features to all the currently used applications, using their plugin development API. "Hasn't got a name yet" has a standalone version too which can view file from all the application and allows professionals to add annotation and drawings on top of those views while interacting with a colleague or alone.

"Hasn't got a name yet" is an open source multiplatform integrated collaboration environment (ICE) which takes advantage of the features and familiarity of today’s accessible design platforms and governs the backing up and collaboration aspect of their outcome in a unified collaborative interface; firstly delivered as a plugin to those platforms and secondly as a standalone application to be used on the go.

Motivation:

While designers, engineers, contractors or marketers use the tools they are familiar with, now they can use "Hasn't got a name yet" to share, collaborate and attain a greater level of integration in all aspects of their project.

Examples: Architects should be able to collaborate on drawings in AutoCAD architecture either as exclusive check outs from the project folder or inclusive shared collaboration on a single drawing. The project manager monitors these activities and discussions on the same interface but from Microsoft project to update the Gantt chart accordingly. The finance officer keeps everyone informed from SAP while monitoring these activities if the decisions taken contradict the project budget plan.
